* Erin and Craig, online

Awwww... Erin and Craig are featured on theknot.com Real Weddings section online. Exciting! I am not a member, so I can't tell if the vertical images are cropped into squares? Hope not!

(Their September wedding is featured on my new website, too, the mountaintop slideshow).

assignment: USA Today, cover story

On Thursday, I had the pleasure of driving around Portland with John Webster, a volunteer with the Independent Transportation Network, for a cover story assignment for USA Today!

ITN is a driving service for seniors who no longer drive on their own, but need to run errands or visit a doctor's office. John transported more than a dozen passengers, and I learned a lot of back routes in town! The article is scheduled to run on April 12th, but here is a sneak peek overview image:

John and his wife own a candy store in Boothbay Harbor, Orne's. Keep him in mind for sweet favors, Boothbay brides!

Today will be a busy day, as I leave for Las Vegas tomorrow for WPPI!

USA Today publication

The USA Today article featuring Portland ran in today's paper. I attempted a scan of the newspaper that shows my photographs. To read the full article (which is so cute and made me so proud to live in such a culturally-rich destination), click here.

#12 Portland

Frommer's ranked Portland, Maine, as one of its top travel destinations for 2007 (other cities include Tokyo, Japan and Krakow, Poland). Really. USA Today assigned me to photograph two folks who will appear in an upcoming article profiling the city.

Dawn Clemens, General Manager at Fore Street Restaurant (ironically, I know Dawn! I worked with her at Pottery Barn last winter for that fab employee discount!).

Bob Witkowski, graphic design director for Portland Magazine.

Brides.com

Brides.com is featuring one of my weddings in their Real Wedding section, and can be seen online by clicking this link. It is always an honor to have my work published, but as usual, the cropping of the pictures doesn't exactly do the images justice.

You can see a slideshow of their wedding I created by clicking here.

theknot Real Weddings

Each year, I submit a handful of weddings to various magazines for publication consideration. My work has appeared in Modern Bride, Brides Boston and theknot Magazine. But often, I get busy with editing and designing albums and don't submit as many weddings as I should.

I didn't realize it, but you can submit your wedding to the Real Weddings section of theknot.com on your own! A bride from last year emailed me today to let me know her wedding has been selected! If you're interested in this and would like to see your wedding photos in print click here or read the instructions below.

Real Weddings
We write about weddings that have taken place within the past year and publish Real Weddings in print and online. To have your wedding considered, you or your photographer can send color photocopies of a sampling of professionally photographed images to The Knot Real Weddings, Attn: Rebecca Crumley; 462 Broadway, Floor 6; New York, NY 10013. We also accept low-resolution .jpg files and links to web galleries if all associated passwords are supplied. Please indicate favorite image numbers and send this info to photos@theknot.com. Kindly include the location of your wedding in the subject line. Mark all submissions with your name, email, telephone number, the date you were married, and the city and state where the wedding took place, along with your photographer's contact information.

Please note that due to the high volume of submissions, we will contact you only if we choose your wedding and we cannot guarantee return of your photocopies. Weddings will be kept on file for one year from the wedding date.

Cool!

Brides Magazine

Brides Magazine (formerly Modern Bride Magazine) featured one of my weddings from last season in this year's Fall issue. And altho it's always an honor to have my work published, I was disappointed with the layout (random cropping into pictures! No dominant image- or any hierarchy whatsoever). You can view more images from the wedding on this slideshow.

There is also another image used on a subsequent page from a different wedding re: rustic reception settings. Likewise, more of that wedding can be seen on this slideshow.

Ladies' Home Journal assignment

Back in October I photographed an assignment for Ladies' Home Journal and it is on newsstands now (the February issue)! Each month they have a column called 'Animal Affairs.' I was assigned to photograph a family from New Orleans forced to evacuate from Hurricane Katrina and leave their dog behind! The mother was a nurse at one of the hospitals in town, and smartly put one of the hospital information bracelets around the dog's neck with her contact information. A few weeks later, they were reunited with their pup in Texas. The family is currently starting a new life in Columbia, MD.
